Spider Vein Removal

Spider veins are located close to the skin’s surface and are typically red or blue. Often, they form in clusters that resemble a tree branch or spiderweb. These veins are most commonly found on the legs or face, but they can also appear on other body areas. Spider veins can be formed by a blockage of blood or sometimes from extra sun exposure, hormonal changes, or injuries. If your spider veins have become swollen, red, or hot, it may be time to have them removed. Even if you are not experiencing these symptoms, spider veins can be a cosmetic concern and may not align with your desired look. At Dermlounge, we would be happy to discuss the removal of your spider veins with laser treatment. During this non-surgical treatment, light energy will be targeted at the veins, causing them to shrink until they diminish. This process may last about 5-15 minutes depending on the size and number of veins being targeted. Although some bruising or swelling may occur immediately after the laser treatment, this should resolve within a few days.

After a couple of treatment sessions, the spider veins should be completely eliminated.

Pigmented Spot Removal

Age spots, or brown spots, are small dark areas that vary in size, shape, and shade. They can appear anywhere on the skin, but are commonly seen in areas that are regularly exposed to the sun. These spots are more common in individuals over the age of 50. Although sun exposure can be the reason for these spots, genetics and age may also play a role. Occasionally they can be cancerous, so making an appointment if new spots appear is recommended. For those who are unhappy with these spots, laser therapy can be used to remove them. Through this process, a laser will target the melanin in the skin which will in turn attack the hyperpigmented areas. This treatment usually involves minimal discomfort which occurs when the laser makes contact with the skin’s surface. After the completion of this procedure, irritation or redness may occur but should dissipate over the week following the treatment. The age spots begin to gradually fade over the course of several weeks or months.

During this time, sun protection is vital, which is why it may be best to consider planning this treatment in the winter, when clothing will likely cover more skin and offer more protection.

Photofacials/IPL

Intense pulsed light, or IPL, is a technology we use at Dermlounge to perform our photofacials. This gentle therapeutic treatment can promote healing in the skin that may be damaged from the sun or aging process. It can help to promote the growth of collagen which is important for skin strength and flexibility. IPL can most commonly treat skin conditions such as freckles, rosacea, spots, and more. As high-energy lightwaves target the treatment area, deep layers of the skin will begin to renew. This procedure is only mildly uncomfortable and offers results in just a matter of minutes, although the maximum results will appear several hours to a few days after the photofacial therapy. Some redness or tenderness may occur following the appointment, but as new collagen forms, the skin should begin to look smoother and more refreshed.

On average about 5 sessions of IPL will be needed to attain optimal benefits, but this will depend on location and size of the area that patients wish to treat.

Laser Hair Removal

For individuals who are frustrated with hair in unwanted places, laser therapy is an effective method of removal. Unwanted hair can occur anywhere on the body, such as the legs, armpits, arms, chin, or face. At Dermlounge we use an Apogee Elite-Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser to reduce this hair for long-lasting results. By targeting the chemical structure of the pigment of each hair follicle, we are able to specifically focus on the molecule melanin. This helps to destroy the root follicle which can prevent it from growing back. Multiple sessions are typically needed to provide best results, as each individual hair must be treated during the active growth phase. A total of six appointments, one per month, are recommended by our med spa staff to provide the most permanent hair reduction. To prepare for this treatment, patients should closely shave the area that will be treated. These appointments should take about 10 minutes to one hour depending on how large the treatment site is. After undergoing a laser hair removal treatment, patients can expect to have some redness or irritation in the treated area. This typically resolves itself in one hour.

You can rest assured this procedure has been well tested and is effective for all skin types.

BroadBand Light (BBL™) Therapy

BroadBand Light (BBL™) by Sciton® can address a wide variety of skin conditions related to aging and sun damage. The treatment works by heating the upper layers of the skin with pulses of photothermal energy. This effectively stimulates the skin cells, leading to new collagen production. BBL is frequently used to treat the face, neck, chest, shoulders, and hands. As a non-invasive solution, patients can diminish unwanted blemishes and resume their normal routine with minimal downtime. Those wanting to reduce the appearance of age spots, redness, freckles, and acne often achieve noticeable results with BBL after a series of approximately 3 to 5 treatment sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. Since pigmentation and texture are both addressed during BBL Therapy, patients can look forward to smoother, healthier skin.

BBL Therapy offers patients a virtually painless way to reverse signs of aging and years of sun damage, providing beautifully rejuvenated skin results.

Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser

With the Halo™ hybrid fractional laser, patients can treat sun damage, wrinkles, age spots, enlarged pores, and more. The advanced laser technology resurfaces microscopic sections of the skin to signal the body’s natural healing process while minimizing downtime. By addressing both the upper and lower layers of skin, the Halo device can improve a variety of cosmetic concerns relating to skin tone and texture. Using dual-wavelengths, the Halo laser can be highly customized according to the needs of the patient to achieve optimal outcomes. The ideal number of treatment sessions will vary from patient to patient; our aesthetician can recommend a series of Halo treatments after evaluating the patient and considering their aesthetic goals.

Hybrid fractional laser resurfacing with the Halo system can address dull and uneven skin to reveal a brighter, healthier complexion.
