What Is Jeuveau?
Jeuveau is an FDA-approved neuromodulator by Evolus™ that works to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles between the eyebrows, often called frown lines or glabellar lines. Jeuveau—also referred to as #Newtox—works in a similar way to BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® as the injectable relaxes the targeted muscles to soften lines. In addition, Jeuveau can help prevent new wrinkles from forming for a lasting rejuvenation.
How Does Jeuveau Work?
Made of prabotulinumtoxinA, a purified form of botulinum toxin A, Jeuveau is injected into the target area to temporarily prevent nerves from allowing the muscles to flex. As this takes effect, the area begins to relax, and wrinkles caused by the overactive facial muscles are diminished. After your treatment at the Dermlounge, you will not need any downtime and should be able to return to your normal activities. You may experience some tenderness and bruising around the injection site, which should quickly fade.
Our team will discuss any precautions you should take after your Jeuveau injections, to ensure you know what to expect and obtain the best possible results. This includes avoiding strenuous exercise and excess heat for the first day. You may begin to see your results within two days of your Jeuveau treatment, but it can take a week or more to see your full results.
How Long Does Jeuveau Last?
Jeuveau lasts about three to four months on average. To prolong the injectable’s anti-aging effects, you can return for follow-up sessions. Most patients can benefit from a series of three Jeuveau treatments per year, which touches up your previous results as they begin to fade, allowing you to maintain your youthful, refreshed facial appearance.
How Does Jeuveau Differ from BOTOX Cosmetic?
Jeuveau and BOTOX Cosmetic are both composed of a type of botulinum toxin A, which is used to temporarily diminish the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. These cosmetic injectables have the same molecular weight, which means Jeuveau is the closest neurotoxin to BOTOX Cosmetic on the market. Due to their similarities, BOTOX Cosmetic and Jeuveau are typically administered in the same way, have comparable side effects, and last about the same amount of time. To determine which injectable is better for your needs, you will need to schedule a consultation with a qualified aesthetic professional who is experienced with both options.
How Much Does Jeuveau Cost?
Jeuveau costs $13 per unit, and most patients benefit from about 19-30 units total. The number of units you will need will depend on the severity of your wrinkles and size of the areas being treated. Patients can expect to pay around $286 for a typical Jeuveau session. When you come in for your consultation, our team can provide you with a cost quote to help you understand what to expect. If you would like to divide your total cost into a series of smaller payments, you can take advantage of our low-interest financing options.
